~ Humble Origins ~
Growing up in the islands, we were surrounded by incredible culinary traditions. Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese — each culture brought its own flavor and flair to the table. Together, they shaped how we cook, how we shared our lives around the table, how we celebrate food. I grew up with a poi bowl in the middle of the table, and every dish had rice with a shoyu bottle not far away. These influences are the heartbeat of the flavors we know and love from home.
I learned to cook along side my family and friends, and that foundation became the soul of the seasonings I’ve been creating since 2004. Which brings us to our humble origins…
A long time ago (in a galaxy not too far away), I was living in Lahaina, Maui, with my Filipino in-laws. Our kitchen shelves were packed with all kinds of seasonings and spices — and since I’ve always loved to cook, I started experimenting. Mixing, tasting, adjusting, and learning which spices worked best together and why.
Eventually, I began isolating ingredients, perfecting ratios, and crafting my own blends — until I landed on that perfect, consistent flavor that would blow your slippers off.
